Without registering you can search and view our thumbnail and watermarked preview images with caption information, however you must register to have use of the Lightbox Manager, to receive price quotes, to have Odyssey search for you, or to order images.

Keyword search
Use the singular, not the plural, form of your keyword. You may use one or more keywords to define a search, using "and," "or," or "not," such as:
Columbus - shows all images that have Columbus.
Columbus and ship - shows images that have both Columbus and ships.
Columbus or ship - shows images that have Columbus, or ships, or both.
Columbus not ship - shows images that have Columbus without a ship.

Major Collections search
Click on a category in the MAJOR COLLECTIONS section to see a list of subjects related to that catagory.

Photographer search
Click on a Photographer’s name in SEARCH BY PHOTOGRAPHER to see images related to that photographer. You can also use the photographer as a "filter" for a keyword search.

Image Id
If you know the IMAGE ID number, you can use this option to bypass a more general search to view an image and its caption, download a comp, save it to a lightbox, or order it.

Magnifying glass

Click the magnifying glass under a thumbnail or click on the image to view a larger Preview-size image with detailed caption information. This Preview also offers you the option to add the image to a lightbox, download a comp, or do a keyword search based on that image's keywords.

To save this image on a Macintosh, click-and-hold on the image to view saving options. On a PC, right-click on the image. All comps are watermarked to remind you they may not be used without our permission except for layout purposes.

Lightbox

Lightboxes are like folders for organizing your images. You may create any number of lightboxes, with unlimited images in each. You can email, display, create, rename, or delete a lightbox at the bottom of the Search Results page. To put an image in a lightbox, highlight (or create) the lightbox you want to use, then click the lightbox icon under a thumbnail image on the search results or on the Preview version of that same image. You can organize multiple lightboxes in your Lightbox Manager. Your Lightbox Manager is always available on the Home Page or from Lightbox in the menu bar.

Ordering images

Click on PRICING to see our PRICE GUIDES, to bring up a PRICE QUOTE e-mail form, or a HOW TO PURCHASE AN IMAGE e-mail form. The information you provided at registration, and the ID number of the image you previewed, will automatically appear on the PRICE QUOTE and IMAGE ORDER forms. To change the image number, just return to the search screen and click on the image of your choice, then go back to the order screen. You can also call or email us any time you have a question or if you want to order an image by phone.

Research help
We are friendly and will search for you at no charge. We can post image possibilities to a lightbox for you, or send to you slides not yet available on the website. You can ask for our assistance via the RESEARCH REQUEST e-mail form on our website, or call or fax to us. Our knowledge of our collection makes our staff a resource that you may often want to employ, and we enjoy talking with you!
